Meet Katharine Young, one of our operations experts.
What is your role within DRG?
I am a Project Administrator at DRG, where I oversee scheduling, logistics, document management, communications, and the overall coordination of the searches I support. While you may not always interact with me or my team directly, we play a crucial role behind the scenes to ensure a seamless process. My goal is to make sure that every search runs smoothly and to provide a great experience for candidates and clients.
What would you want organizations to know about DRG?
At DRG, everyone has such a wisdom about people and about mission-driven organizations. We understand that hiring is one of the most impactful decisions an organization can make, and we take that responsibility seriously. At the same time, we are a team that genuinely enjoys one another—we love to laugh! The trust within our team is rare and special. We take what we do very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
“Capacity is relational.” A friend and fellow board member shared this with me recently, having learned it from their mentor. This idea has been on my mind over the past few weeks, and it continues to resonate deeply—both professionally and personally. The more connected we are with others, the more energized and engaged we become in the work that needs to be done.
We can’t overlook the relational aspect of everything we do. Our relationships are what make us feel excited and connected to the work– they create the safety we need to take action and take responsibility and they create the courage needed to be bold and keep showing up.
What brings you joy in your free time?
I love to spend time in nature: rafting, camping, hiking, biking, and generally romping around outside or hanging by a fire with friends and family. Every summer, I put together a dip list, which is all the natural bodies of water I hope to swim in that year. This year’s will be my most ambitious yet!
I also love to bedazzle anything in reach, make playlists for any occasion, and enjoy any television program that features Real Housewives.
Which book/movie/tv show/podcast etc. is at the top of your list right now?
Currently I’m reading Fall of the House of Dixie about the rise and end of the confederacy in America. Another recent fave is The Chaos Machine about how social media came to be what it is today. I love to learn!
I also enjoy podcasts about history, like medieval times podcast We’re Not So Different, or niche pop culture moments like You’re Wrong About and Les Deux You Remember This.
