Finding a powerful, savvy CEO for a massive, nonprofit digital platform powering real-world impact.
DoSomething.org is the largest nonprofit exclusively for young people and social change with millions of members representing every US area code and 131 countries. Using its digital platform, DoSomething members join volunteer, social change, and civic action campaigns to make real-world impact on causes they care about. The organization was at a pivotal moment in its history and strategic plan and was facing significant challenges. DoSomething was seeking a new CEO who could both motivate young people to create positive social change and foster a high-performing anti-racist and inclusive culture.
DRG talent consulting experts conducted a detailed and customized Discovery process, learning about all the challenges and opportunities facing DoSomething moving forward. The DRG team conducted in-depth informational sessions with corporate partners, networks of grassroots activists, board members, and DoSomething team members. Outreach to potential candidates was highly tailored, and the Candidate Assessment Process was exceptionally detailed. It was critically important to present DoSomething with a truly extraordinary set of candidates that possessed the unique skills required in this highly challenging position.
DRG talent consulting experts placed DeNora Getachew as the new CEO of DoSomething.org. DeNora brings to the organization a natural affinity for young people and unique expertise, dedication, and passion for enacting positive social change. She most recently served as the New York Executive Director of Generation Citizen, a national nonprofit transforming how civics education is taught in our country’s secondary schools. She also previously led issue campaigns at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and Citizens Union. DeNora subsequently brought DRG aboard to search for a new VP of People, expressing the importance of the DRG commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
