What’s the Job?

DRG Talent is continuing to build on a period of exciting growth and expansion. Currently, we are looking to hire a Senior Talent Consultant – a current/former head of an independent school – whose portfolio will focus on managing and directing the full cycle of Executive Search services in partnership with our clients, with a focus on our independent schools practice.

Executive Search Engagements

Our Senior Talent Consultants play an integral role in advancing simultaneous search engagements to reach successful completion. At any point during a given week, you might be engaged in strategic conversations with a client about the direction of their organization, partner with search committees and board members to build a customized search strategy, interview candidates to assess their skills and competencies, or provide ongoing consultation to our clients around their talent challenges, needs, goals, and strategies. Our Senior Talent Consultants work closely with our Research and Outreach Department and Principals to develop search strategy, generate client deliverables, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and practice.

Talent Advisory Engagements

Our Senior Talent Consultants may also support our talent advisory projects for our clients, which could include providing direct consultation in DRG’s core focus areas, including organizational design and alignment; transition and succession planning; talent integration; compensation analysis and strategy; individual and team assessment, development, and effectiveness; organizational culture and engagement; board effectiveness; and diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism. Our Senior Talent Consultants develop and present innovative, engaging learning opportunities for clients and partners throughout the sector. You’ll also partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop, refine, and continuously improve DRGs products, services, tools, and value propositions.

Business Development

We expect our Senior Talent Consultants to develop business relationships by spending structured and directed time meeting and engaging with leaders in the independent school and nonprofit community and maintaining those relationships with strong communication and follow-up. Senior Talent Consultants will also play an important role in our continuous mapping of talent needs in the nonprofit sector. DRG Teamwork

Over the past five years, we have seen tremendous growth and have broadened our scope of work well beyond Executive Search. Although this position is focused primarily on Executive Search, our entire team collaborates on company-wide projects, learning, professional development, and experiences designed to strengthen our company. Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate possesses master’s level academic training and a minimum of fifteen years’ independent school work experience in a combination of roles including senior leadership, consulting, client services, and/or human resources management. We are specifically seeking a current or former head of school. Our Senior Talent Consultants must have a superior work ethic, deep curiosity, and a strong sense of accountability. Our Senior Talent Consultants are master facilitators of complex conversations and can manage multiple engagements and projects simultaneously. They are deeply interested in and knowledgeable about the functioning and dynamics of independent schools and are equally passionate about the work of the sector. Senior Talent Consultants are able to develop client deliverables with acuity and have impeccable follow-up and follow-through.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • A deep understanding of the functioning and dynamics of independent schools and the academic ecosystem
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Detail orientation and a deep commitment to providing high-quality products and services
  • Exceptional written communication skills; able to clearly and effectively convey ideas and concepts in writing and through work product of various forms
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Skill as a presenter and workshop developer and leader
  • Excellent business development and client relationship management skills
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Able to manage projects and lead project teams
  • Sense of humor
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel

Compensation and Benefits

  • DRG offers a comprehensive compensation package, which is made up of four components in addition to your base salary. Starting base salary for this position is between $125,000 and $135,000 depending on experience, plus commission, quarterly revenue sharing, and discretionary and business development bonus opportunities. Location: This is a full-time, exempt position. Location is flexible; our staff works from home offices or shared workspaces near where they live. Periodic travel for staff meetings and retreats may be required. Travel is also likely while conducting school searches.
